service specific convergence sublayer (ATM) (SSCS)

The Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) is an intermediate layer of a layer model.

In Asynchronous Transfer Mode( ATM), the SSCS sublayer is part of the ATM adaptation layer( AAL), which is responsible for the converted traffic. SSCS is service-dependent and provides secured data transmission. SSCS is omitted in classic IP over ATM( IPoA) and LAN emulations.

In layer models of Wireless PersonalArea Networks(WPAN), the SSCS sublayer is the lower part of the Logical Link Control( LLC), which is based on the MAC layer.
