service profile identifier (ISDN) (SPID)

The Service Profile Identifier (SPID) is a multi-digit number assigned by an operating company to a terminal from an ISDNB- channel.

The SPID number is a service identifier that informs the service provider 's central office about the terminal 's capabilities. As soon as a connection to the service provider is established via the ISDN network, the Service Profile Identifier (SPID) is transmitted. The SPID informs the central office, for example, whether the terminal is designed for voice or data information.

The SPID number is a sequence of 3 to 20 digits that is assigned by the operating company when a basic access is registered.
