service oriented computing (SOC)

In service-oriented computing (SOC), applications consist of services that communicate with each other via standardized procedures. Services are autonomous and implement business procedures, but no transformation or flow logic. In order for services to loosely communicate with each other, a framework is needed, such as the service-oriented architecture. In a Service Oriented Architecture ( SOA), such services can provide business functionality that is used by other services.
