service level specification (QoS) (SLS)

Service Level Specifications(SLS) are contractual agreements between an Internet Service Provider( ISP) and the customer about the DiffServ class of service.

DiffServ offers definable quality classes for the transmission of data packets with the Per-Hop-Behavior( PHB). The customer negotiates these quality classes with his Internet service provider and specifies in them which quality classes are made available to him. In addition to the transmission rate, availability, delay times, encryption, authentication, routing and accounting play an important role and are taken into account in the service level specifications.
