serial port profile (Bluetooth) (SPP)

The Serial PortProfile(SPP) is one of the general Bluetooth profiles that must be fulfilled by all Bluetooth devices. The SPP profile emulates a serial interface.

The SPP profile supports all applications with a serial interface, which were handled via RS-232-C. From dial-up technologywith modems to terminal programs and printer control. It is based on the Generic Access Profile( GAP) and defines a connection-oriented channel via RF Communication( RFCOMM). The supported data rate is a maximum of 128 kbit/s, which corresponds to the bundling of two ISDN channels.
