selective laser melting (SLM)

Selective Laser Melting (SLM), like Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), is a 3D printing technique

for prototyping.

In the selective melting process, individual thin layers of

the printing powder are applied one after the other and fused together with a high-power laser. After cooling, the printing powder forms a solid material layer. In contrast to laser sintering, the fusion is complete, resulting in a solid layer of material. The finished 3D model has a high density. Metallic powder can also be used as printing material. The resolution of the print contours is between 50 µm and 100 µm.
