A script is a manuscript. In computer technology, it is a list of commands that is executed by a specific program. Scripts can be used to automate processes on local computers, to configureIT infrastructure or even to generate web pages.

Depending on what kind of script it is, DOS and Visual Basic Scripts( VB) can support processes on Windows, Apple scripts can automate tasks onMacintosh computers, Active Server Pages( ASP) scripts or Java scripts can be used to generate dynamic web pages, and Unix scripts record all input and output from a terminal.

Scripts are mostly text documents that contain commands and are written in a specific scripting language. Therefore, most scripts can be opened and edited with a text editor.
