screended foiled unshielded twisted pair (SF/UTP)

In SF/UTP cables, all conductor strands are surrounded by a double shield

consisting of a foil shield and a braided shield.

This is also why the designation SF stands for Screened (braided shielding) and Foiled (foil shielding) according to the cable nomenclature. The twisted pairs of conductors are unshielded, as in the other two variants S/UTP and F/UTP. The conductor strand also contains the uninsulated ground wire, drain wire. The outer matel is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
