In multitasking, several processes are executed in parallel. The scheduler, which is part of the operating system, takes over the time control and distributes the computing power of the processor to the different processes.

The computing power can be allocated in such a way that the same computing time is allocated to each process in turn, but it can also be done by priority control, which optimizes the power distribution.

In addition to the two strategies for computing time distribution mentioned above, it can also be done in such a way that the computing time is provided according to the order of the request or that it is divided into time slots and the same computing time is provided to each process in turn.
