satellite DAB (S-DAB)

Digital audio broadcasting( DAB) is generally transmitted terrestrially. However, there is also a satellite-based variant, S-DAB (Satellite DAB). Two DAB coverages with different regional frequency ranges are available for transmission in the upper L band. In 2006, the restrictions on individual L-band allocations were lifted, thus creating the conditions for satellite-based transmission for S-DAB.
