safety of life (Galileo) (SoL)

The safety-critical service, Safety of Live (SoL), is one of five Galileo services used for surveillance in aviation, shipping and rail traffic and can only be received with certified dual- frequency receivers. Position resolution is about 5 m.

In contrast to the open service, the Open Service( OS), the availability of the safety-of-life service is guaranteed by Galileo.

The Galileo Safety of Life (SoL) service is also supported by the European Geostationary Overlay Service( EGNOS). In addition to this service, Galileo offers the Open Service (OS), the Commercial Service( CS), the Public Regulated Service( PRS) and Search and Rescue( SAR) as further services.
