routing table maintenance protocol (RTMP)

The RTMP protocol, Rounting Table Maintenance Protocol (RTMP), is an AppleTalk protocol based on the Routing Information Protocol (RIP) that ensures that all routers

in the AppleTalk network have consistent routing information. The Rounting Table Maintenance Protocol builds and dynamically maintains routing tables so that datagrams

can be transmitted from any source socket to any destination socket. Dynamic routing table maintenance ensures that all routers are constantly aware of current topology changes. The routers use the RTMP protocol to exchange routing information. The RTMP protocol works according to the distance vector algorithm and updates the routing tables in short time intervals (10 s).
