round robin database (RRD)

An RRD database(Round Robin Database) is used to store time-dependent data. This can be network throughput, temperature of power supplies or time-dependent voltage values of batteries. The RRD data can be calculated with mathematical functions, for example averaged or the peak value can be calculated and displayed graphically as a time-dependent function.

With the RDD database, the data is sorted by time reference.
