Rodent protection is used to protect indoor cables and outdoor cables from being bitten by rodents.

The rodent protection applies equally to electrical cables, coaxial cables and optical fibers. There are metallic and non-metallic protection designs. In the case of metallic rodent protection, the cable is encased by metallic reinforcement in the form of a layered sheath. Non-metallic rodent protection is achieved, for example, by nylon or polyester coating of the cable.
