robust secure network (802.11i) (RSN)

WiFi Protected Architecture(WPA) is an interim solution for security in 802.11i due to the fact that existing 802.11 devices could operate with WPA.

However, in order to have a Robust Secure Network (RSN), the hardware must also support CCMP (Counter Mode with CBC- MAC Protocol). This means that an RSN network, which can also be referred to as WPA2, consists of CCMP and 802.1x. RSN networks that use Temporal Key Integrity Protocol( TKIP) instead of CCMP are called Transition Security Networks( TSN).
