Windows 8 has an enhanced file system, the Resilient FileSystem (ReFS). It is compatible with the New Technology File System (NTFS) file system.
The Resilient File System can manage files with a maximum size of 2exp64, which is equivalent to 16 exabytes (EB). It works with a checksum procedure, checks files for their integrity and can automatically correct any errors that occur. In addition, files are copied and secured before they are changed so that they could be accessed later.
