In some transmission procedures, frames with errors are discarded, which is expressed with the Frame Erasure Rate (FER) parameter. The Residual Bit Error Rate (RBER) is the remaining bit error rate (BER) without taking discarded data packets into account. This parameter shows a better error rate because most of the erroneous frames have been discarded, making the ratio between erroneous bits and the total number of bits much more favorable.
