reset flag (TCP) (RST)

The reset flag(RST) is a bit indicator in the control flag field of the TCP header. A set flag indicates that the sender wants to terminate the connection.

The TCP protocol then informs the application that the connection has been terminated. After the connection is terminated, the connection remains in a " Time Wait" state for twice the lifetime of the segment.
