remote shell (r-utility) (rsh)

The remote shell (rsh) commands, which belong to the r-commands, can be used to execute commands on remote host without being logged into it. No password is required from the executing host for command execution. However, command execution cannot be done interactively, i.e. only for previously specified parameter inputs.

An rsh command used in remote maintenance can be used to activate a program and query status messages on a remote computer that must be running the Remote Shell daemon process.
