remote management control protocol (IMPI) (RMCP)

The Remote Management Control Protocol (RMCP) is used in the Intelligent Platform Management Interface(IPMI) for communication between two Baseboard Management Controllers( BMC) or via the buses and LANs. The RMPC data is transmitted as datagrams using the User Datagram Protocol( UDP), which is also referred to as IPMI over LAN. The IP addresses are defined by IPMI.

In a newer version RMCP+, the RMCP protocol also supports encrypted authentication.
