remote database access (OSI) (RDA)

Remote Database Access (RDA) is one of the special application service elements( SASE) for client- server support. The RDA interface provides the RDA client and RDA server services.

At the beginning of an RDA session, the RDA client opens communication with the RDA server. The RDA client can open parts of the RDA server's remote database and access the database via Remote Procedure Call( RPC). RDA selects the specific database language during the dialog setup.

A Microsoft program for remote database access is Remote Data Objects( RDO).
