ROT information (Redundant, Obsolete, Trivial) refers to old, useless documents kept by individuals, companies or organizations, even though the substance of the content has no business use. ROT documents include copies of the same document, as well as documents whose content is obsolete or irrelevant and cannot be used for business development.

ROT documents can be found on all computers, personal computers, tablets, mobile devices, servers and in the cloud. ROT information generates unnecessary costs due to the excessive storage space and maintenance costs, it requires computing power and degrades access and response time behavior, it provides vulnerabilities in terms of unauthorized access, and it can be used against the interests of the company.
