A recloser or auto-recloser is a device that detects faults

occurring in power distribution systems and interrupts the circuit to protect the distribution components from damage. Reclosers normally restore the previous switching state after a short interruption, provided the fault is no longer present. Circuit breakers are used to interrupt the circuit. Particularly in the case of overhead lines, whose power transmission can be affected by short circuits of short duration, reclosers protect the distribution components from damage and ensure continuous power forwarding by restoring power transmission as quickly as possible.
