The Radio Link Protocol (RLP) forms the air interface of the Mobile Switching Center( MSC) in GSM networks.

The RLP protocol supports the link layer functions and has an error correction with automatic bit error correction. The RLP protocol is responsible for the air-to-air link and operates in non- transparent mode.

The Radio Link Protocol (RLP) was specified by IEEE 802.20 and is used in the various cellular mobile radio networks such as GSM, Code Division Multiple Access( CDMA) or CDMA2000 in different variants.
