quantum flow control (ATM) (QFC)

Quantum Flow Control (QFC) is a flow control technique for applications with intermittent traffic. This method uses the Available Bit Rate( ABR) for immediate access to free bandwidths with an extremely low cell loss rate.

QFC is said to achieve much better bandwidth utilization than traffic-based control, especially for WAN links. The QFC method is based on controlling the amount of available memory in the ingress buffer of each receiver. This allows direct flow control from one receiver to the next, i.e., from hop to hop. The QFC approach is specifically aimed at WAN links with many intermediate nodes.
