Binary units and their valences

A quadbit represents 16 states (2exp4) between 0000 and 1111 and can map the valences of the hexadecimal system.

The quadbit is used, for example, in 4B5B coding and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) to increase the data rate. If two bits are combined to form a group, this is referred to as a dibit, three bits as a tribit and 8 bits as a byte.
