punched card reader

A punch card reader is a peripheral device for data processing systems which scans punch cards electrically, optically or mechanically, converts the punchings according to the character set and forwards the decoded data to the data processing system for further processing. A maximum of 80 characters are stored on a punched card. The punched cards are read in batches.
