Presubscribed Interexchange Carrier ( PIC) numbers are 7- digit area codes used by local telecommunications carriers (LECs) in the United States to identify long-distance carriers. This allows users to use different long-distance carriers for their calls. Most PIC numbers have the format 1010xxx.
