predicted frame (MPEG) (P-frame)
Predicted frames (P-frame) are predicted frames in MPEG compression based on the prediction and difference information of previous intra frames(I-frames) and previous predicted frames.
Predicted frames have a higher compression ratio than the intra frames, which can be as high as 20:1. Accordingly, the compressed data volume of a predicted frame is lower.
The Predicted frame takes into account the fact that image details shift only slightly. The displacement is stored as a motion vector.
