precise point positioning (PPP)

Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is a method used in the Global Navigation Satellite System

(GNSS) for accurate positioning. The position accuracy achieved with the PPP method is a few centimeters if a single GNSS receiver can receive an International Terrestrial Frame

(ITRF) as a correction signal. In contrast to the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), PPP position determination does not work with several transmitting stations, but uses a precise time signal to calculate the exact position in addition to the orbit data.
