praseodymium doped fiber amplifier (OA) (PDFA)

Praseodymium Doped Fiber Amplifier (PDFA) is a fiber amplifier for amplifying optical signals.

In the PDFA amplifier, the optical fiber is doped with the rare earth praseodymium. The PDFA amplifier differs from the EDFA amplifier in that the wavelength range is 1,020 nm due to the doping. In contrast, the wavelength range of the EDFA amplifier is about 1,550 nm. Other fiber amplifiers doped with rare earths are the Ytterbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (YDFA), the Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) or the Thulium Doped Fiber Amplifier ( TDFA).
