The portable media player was developed specifically for mobile TV.
It is optimized for TV and sound playback and features a larger display with a screen diagonal of 10 cm to 15 cm compared to TV phones, which are limited to 7.5 cm. In addition, the screen resolution in Wide- QVGA with 480 x 270 pixels supports 16:9 format.
PMP players such as the Playstation portable( PSP) work with a flash memory or hard disk of about 20 GB and can record TV broadcasts received on the go. This turns the PMP layer into a personalvideorecorder( PVR).
In addition to direct playback or storage of TV broadcasts, there is also the option of podcasting and vodcasting.
