Pop filter or pop shield is a flat sound-permeable membrane that is attached to the microphone and filters out air turbulence or breath noise from the speaker or singer.

Pop filters consist of a nylon mesh or a close-meshed wire mesh stretched into a ring-shaped frame and fixed at a distance of 5 cm to 20 cm in front of the microphone.
