polyurethane (PUR)

Polyurethane (PUR) is an insulating material for cables with the DIN/VDE designation 11Y.

Polyurethane is halogen-free and self-extinguishing. The operating temperature range is between -50°C and +85°C. Abrasion resistance is considered to be very high, and resistance to UV light, chemicals and oil is very good. Polyurethane cables are suitable as outdoor cables and for moving applications. In addition, corresponding cables can be used in highly polluted environment.

Polyurethane foam is also used for packaging electrostatic sensitive devices( ESD). In this process, the chips to be packaged are inserted into the polyurethane foam with their terminal pins. Black polyurethane foam is conductive, pink colored has antistatic properties. In addition, the foam is used as an absorber material in low- noise rooms.
