polymer stabilized vertical alignment (LCD) (PSVA)

Polymer Stabilized Vertical Alignment (PSVA) is one of several techniques used to increase the contrast ofLCD displays.

Other techniques are Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment( MVA) and Patterned Vertical Alignment( PVA). All techniques involve the alignment of liquid crystals and the associated increase in contrast.

In the PSVA technique, polymer layers are deposited on the inside of the glass instead of the microscopic glass protrusions common in other processes. These polymer layers form a thin polymer network with which the liquid crystals are stabilized on the surface.
