Polychromatic stands for multicolored. Polychromatic light is light that consists of many different colors, and polychromatic displays are multicolored displays composed of mixed colors.

Natural and artificial light is usually always polychromatic light. One of the few exceptions is laser light, because that consists of one spectral color. In contrast to polychromatic light, monochromatic light consists of one spectral color.
