plug-in electric vehicle (PEV)
Plug-In Electric Vehicles (PEV) are battery-powered electric vehicles that draw their energy from the low- voltage grid.
The term plug-in refers to the charging of the batteries, which takes place at a charging station into which the charging cable is plugged. There are two types of electric cars: those that are powered solely by electric energy, which are Battery Electric Vehicles( BEV), and those that also have an internal combustion engine. These are called Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles ( PHEV).
