The portable Playstation (PSP) was developed by Sony for computer games. The handheld console is equipped with a RISC architectureprocessor and 32 megabytes( MB) of RAM. It has its own graphics processor( GPU), a UMD drive and a slot for a MemoryStick.
The PSP console has a 16:9 display measuring 95 mm x 54 mm with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels and a color depth of 24 bits. The brightness is adjustable in four levels of 80 cd/m2, 130 cd/m2, 180 cd/m2 and 200 cd/m2. For mobile operation, it has a lithium-ion battery that provides an operating time of six hours.

The handheld console can also receive DVB-T as a portable media player( PMP) and be used to play videos, downloaded podcasts and vodcasts. These can be transferred from the stationary computer to the PSP console via the USB interface, IrDA or WLAN802.11b. The PSP console can play MP3, ATRAC3plus, pulse code modulation and H.264/ AVC audio files and MPEG-4/AVC and MP4 video file formats.
For sound playback, the portable Playstation has stereo speakers and a jack for headphones.
