Plausibility means as much as conclusiveness or coherence. A statement is coherent, correct or credible if it is logically comprehensible and the measured or calculated result is consistent with an estimated result.

Plausibility is about the correctness of a statement or value withoutchecking, measuring or recalculating all the information in detail. If the measured or calculated value differs from the estimated value, the statement is implausible. Ininformation technology and online technology, plausibility checks are used, among other things, for entries in databases, for transactions in online banking, for online orders to avoid junk orders, or in Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing( CATI).
