pingback

Pingback, like trackback, is a linkback in weblogs or between other two websites. Pingback is about the author of a post recognizing when another blogger or reader has linked to the post.

With pingback, the author of a post can request a notification as soon as their post has been linked.

If an author "A" writes a weblog and it is read by reader "B", commented on and linked to the post of author "A", then by means of pingback author "A" is automatically notified of the linking by an advertisement and can in turn use his software to list this linking information on his website. Through the pingback, the author can track which post or website links to his post.
