picture in picture (Video) (PiP)
Picture-in-picture(PiP) is a method used in television and video technology and also on notebooks, tablets and smartphones to simultaneously display two or more reduced video or streaming sequences within a television picture or video sequence.
The PiP method is used in recording, control and surveillance and superimposes one or more downscaled video images within a full screen image. The picture-in-picture display is also used to superimpose additional information, stock quotes, Ted polls or election results. It is also used for sports betting and teleshopping.
A slightly different method is the split-screen technique, where two or more video images share one screen. With this method, all video sequences are displayed in a reduced size.
