physical world connection (PWC)

Physical World Connection (PWC) is the physical connection to the real world. This term occurs in mobile tagging and refers to the linking of real-world objects to the offerings on the mobile Internet.

In mobile tagging, the linkage can be via newspaper articles, advertisements, billboards, television, web pages, or business cards that are tagged with a 2D code. Likewise, tagging can be done by entering the domain name or using the short messaging service.

Usually, the tagging is done by the user taking a picture of the 2D code with his smartphone and decoding the code with the appropriate 2D code reader. The decoded 2D code can contain texts, e-mail addresses, vCards, telephone numbers or even the Internet address, which can be called up directly by the smartphone and via which the link to the offer world, images and videos can be established.
