personal video recorder (service) (PVR)
PersonalVideoRecorders (PVR) are usually Digital Video Recorders(DVR) that digitize the video signals and record them on a hard disk or Solid State Drive( SSD).
VPR recorders have electronic program guides( EPG), they receive the TV signal via a digital receiver or set-top box, capture and digitize the video signal and store it on the hard disk. For playback, the PVR has appropriate software so that the stored video can be played on the personal computer.
There are some TV manufacturers that integrate the PVR recorder into the TV set. Others offer PVRs with DVD drive or two tuners, thus one program can be watched while the other is recorded.
