peak cell rate (ATM) (PCR)

The Peak Cell Rate(PCR) is an ABR service parameter in ATM networks.

Peak Cell Rate is the upper limit of the cell rate to be transmitted on a virtual channel( VC) accepted by the ATM network. The peak cell rate is specified in cells per second (c/s). It is inversely proportional to the minimum interval time of two immediately successive ATM cells. Where the last bit of one ATM cell and the first bit of the following ATM cell are taken as the time interval.
