partitional emulation program (Modem) (PEP)

The Partitional Emulation Program(PEP) is a multicarrier modem protocol with speed splitting that operates in transparent half- duplex mode. Bit rate splitting occurs with this method; this means that one channel operates at the full PEP transmission rate of 18.2 kbit/s or 23 kbit/s; the second channel then only has a reduced transmission speed.
