parity control

Priority control is a procedure for clearing conflicts and controlling prioritized services. In priority control, priorities are assigned to the individual stations via a wide variety of procedures. These priorities are taken into account in the access procedures or during transmission.

As an access procedure, priority control is used, among other things, in the demand priority procedure in 100Base- VG, the IEEE 802.12working group. In addition, WLANs according to 802.11 use priority control in the various procedures of the Interframe Space( IFS).

There are also bits for priority information in token-based access methods, which are used for priority control of the next free token. In addition, the TCP header should be mentioned, which has priority control for urgency data with the Urgent Pointer.

However, priority control is not only used in access techniques, services and protocols, but also in the allocation of computer power. Here, priority control optimizes power distribution by allocating computing power.
