pair in metal foil (STP) (PiMF)

Pair in metal foil (PiMF) is the German term for an STP cable in which each pair of wires is shielded with its own metal foil.

In a PiMF cable, the individual twisted wire pairs have a foil shield. There is no overall shielding for all wire pairs. According to the common nomenclature, the PiMF cable corresponds to the U/ FTP cable, but its wire pairs have a foil shield. PiMF cables are characterized by a good attenuation-to- crosstalk ratio( ACR) and a high near-end crosstalk attenuation( NEXT).
