packet switch node (PSN)

A data packet switch node, Packet SwitchNode (PSN), is a node in a data packet network. In the Internet, these switching nodes are the gateways and routers; in ARPANET, they used to be called interfacemessageprocessors ( IMP). Data packet switching nodes receive data packets, evaluate the routing information and forward the data packet accordingly.
