overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)

Overall Equipment Effectiveness

(OEE) is a characteristic value that can be used to indicate the productivity of production facilities. The OEE value is given as a percentage and expresses how productive the production processes are. Overall equipment effectiveness is calculated from the three factors of availability, performance and quality. Here, availability is expressed as the time that production equipment is operating and material is available for production. The availability is reduced by downtime of the equipment and times when no material is available. The output is then calculated according to the number of units produced compared to the number of target units. And quality is the percentage of products produced without defects.
