outdoor access point (OAP)

With PowerlineCommunication (PLC), a distinction is made between the indoor and outdoor areas. In the local network station in the outdoor area, the telecommunications infrastructure is connected to the long-distance telephone networks or the Internet. The outdoor area ends at the access point for the indoor area, the outdoor access point (OAP). At this point, the data stream from the public networks is coupled into the indoor network. The PLC master is responsible for controlling the indoor network.
